Прежде, чем рассказывать о группе Moongarden,следует упомянуть о замечательной группе Theatre. Что общего между этими группами? Ответ: обе группы из Италии, и один и тот же ПРЕКРАСНЫЙ и МОЩНЫЙ ВОКАЛИСТ Rycky(Rycardo) Tonco, который в некоторых местах просто не отличим от Фиша/Габриэля. Та же манера пения, тот же драматизм…Вокал на английском, только один бонус добавлен на итальянском.
Музыка Theatre выдержана в русле Marillion периода 83-85 годов. Группа выпустила только один единственный диск “No More Rhymes But Mr. Brainstorm в 1992 году.

О Moongarden критиканы сказали бы так: НАБОР ВСЕМ ИЗВЕСТНЫХ ШТАМПОВ И КЛИШЕ! А я скажу иначе, эта группа вобрала в себя всё лучшее из творчества genesis,marillion всё тщательно перемешала и выдала НЕЧТО своё, в котором иногда с трудом даже узнаёшь на что это похоже. Всё так близко и до боли знакомо, но сказать что они деранули,-язык не поворачивается. Музыка Moongarden очень мелодичный арт-рок с выразительным, мощным и ДРАМАТИЧЕСКИМ вокалом. Поёт так же как и в Theatre РАЗНОСТОРОННЕ(резкие перепады от высокого к низкому и как бы разными голосами /ну что вы манеру пения Фиша не знаете? J)
Доминирующим инструментом является очень выразительный клавишник. Много меллотрона..

О третьем (двойнике) нужно сказать пару слов. К сожалению суперВОКАЛИСТ Рики Тонко покинул группу и его место занял,ВОТ ПОРАЗИТЕЛЬНО!!!!, не менее прекрасный певец Luca Palleschi. Если Рико пел в Манере Фиша/Габриэля то Рико это чистый Габриэль,или может быть Сайрус(Ситизен Кейн) В этом альбоме ещё больше клавишей, и к влиянию Дженезис/Мариллион добавились красивейшие космические клавиши от ELOY. Альбом The Gates Of Omega © 2001 имеет на первом диске 16 минутную композицию которую я не понял (клавиши от Eloy а тема? Непонятка из King Crimson!!) Если бы не этот непонятный опус и такой же на вторм диске(последняя вещь на 10 минут), то диск получил бы заслуженную оценку в 12 баллов. А так… 10 из 12

Brainstorm of Emptyness is in the typical style of many British bands. In fact, what we find is a melodic, symphonic rock with the added drama of a strong vocal presence (in English). This low-tone (ex: Peter Murphy, David Sylvian) and versatile voice certainly dominates but it rests on the solid compositions of the keyboardist who obviously favours an excellent delivery by all five members. The familiar format successfully alternates between calm and more vigourous moments and therefore offers a chance for everyone to shine. Fans of the style will recognise a good old recipe while others will appreciate the quality of its ingredients. -- Paul Charbonneau
Brainstorm Of Emptyness, the second album by the Italian group Moongarden, offers 71 minutes of high-quality symphonic rock. The music is composed by keyboardist Cristiano Roversi, who names Andy Latimer as his biggest inspiration (though Camel’s influence isn’t very obvious in Moongarden’s music), and his compositions are consistently excellent. All lyrics are by vocalist Ricky Tonko (ex-Theatre), being often whimsical, semi-surreal stories with dark undertones, like many of Peter Gabriel’s early lyrics. As a vocalist, Tonko is something of a chameleon: on this album, he manages to sound alternatively like David Sylvian, Peter Gabriel, a child and Clare Torry in "The Great Gig In The Sky"! Keyboards paint colourful sonic textures with a combination of Mellotron, piano, organ and various digital and analog synthesizers, while the guitarist operates in a melodic mode. The rhythm section is competent, if not very assertive. What I like most about this album is its diversity: no two tracks are quite alike. For example, the understated closer "Losing Dawn" sounds very much like some of David Sylvian’s better solo works, while "Chrome Heart" is at times a very driving piece, with a hectic middle section reminding of Van Der Graaf Generator; towards the end the song slows down for a melancholy symphonic coda. "Who’s Wrong?" is a very cinematic piece, resembling Twelfth Night’s "The Collector"; the music follows Tonkoґs gyrating vocals, but despite - or perhaps because of - this there is a lot of variation within the track. The album also features a four part instrumental suite called "Sonia In Search Of The Moon"; the first three part are quiet pieces featuring acoustic guitar, piano and warm Mellotron pads, but the fourth is a strong symphonic rock piece, with plenty of sizzling synth leads and a grandiose, melodic guitar solo to bring it to close. This album may not be breaking much new ground but it serves a large and diverse dose of familiar ideas, and the execution is inspired and skilful. -- Kai Karmanheimo
